Nominations and Evaluation of Nominees

We will start accepting applications for the 2025 fellow status in September of this year.

 

Eligibility For Fellow

Nominees must have:

  • Had at least seven (7) years of continuous, active membership in the Association at the time of their nomination.
  • Have participated in the professional and business affairs of the Association, and
  • Have made a meritorious contribution to the field of intellectual disability in one or more of the following areas:
    • Program development or administration and the improvement of services for people with intellectual disability
    • Skillful and diligent advocacy that benefit people with intellectual disability 
    • Contributions to the field through research, publications, and teaching or training 

Nomination

Nomination for preferment to Fellow is a self-nomination. Interested members must submit a completed application form, their resume or CV, and 3 letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters must be from a Fellow. See the list of current Fellows in Good Standing link on this page.

 

Revocation

Fellows of the Association shall be in support of the mission and values of AAIDD. If a Fellow is found to have breached the AAIDD code of professional conduct, the designation of Fellow status may be revoked with a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors.

 

2022-2023 Fellows in Good Standing

Fellows in Good Standing are current or emeritus members.
